Conservation Area I

consists of a total of 26.6 acres. This area includes an undistbured marsh area and a historic beaver dam. (This dam site has been mentioned in the deeds back to the 1800's.) This dam is alos used to connect foot traffic between the upland areas of the north, and the south without disturbing the marsh. There is about 6 acres of upland that abuts the marsh on the north side. The functions of the Conservation area inculde flood control, wildlife habitat, nutrient protection and wediment trapping. It has a high visual/aesthetic value. The upland portion of this conservation land is adjacent to the marsh on the north side adn will continue to provide a wildlife habitat and help to ensure the water quality.

Conservation Area II

consists of a total of 7.168 acres. Beginning at the Francestown Tpk. this area contains Black Brook and an adjacent poorly drained area and a portion of upland area running adjacent to the brook. (The fire pond is located here). The entire northern portion of lot 4-26 has been dedicated to Conservation. This northern portion is connected to the area adjacent to Black Brook by a strip of land between 4-26-5 and 6-51-1. This land contains 2.8 acres of upland area, and abuts the large Marsh area to the west. There is a historic mill on this site.

Conservation Area III

consists of a total of 12.045 acres. This area adjoins Town owned land (Lot 4-20-1). This will create a corridor from the town land to across the turnpike, alongside Black Brook and connecting with Conservation areas I & II. Total amount of upland is 3.3 acres.
